Three local rec department track and field teams recently participated in the state GRPA Class B/C state championship event. The track meet involved 44 teams from across the state and was held at East Jackson High School on April 26-27.

East Jackson's Liv Pierce has qualified for the Class AA State Golf Championship, which will be held May 20 and 21 at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer. Pierce shot a 98 in the recent Sectional Tournament to qualify for the state competition.

East Jackson's Harley Kate Smith signed her national letter of intent with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College last week. Smith was a member of the girls' soccer team at East Jackson, helping lead the Lady Eagles into the Class AA Sweet 16 for the first-time in school history.
